Death: an Invitation to the Sacred Dance of Life
Mar 20, 2024Death
Every living thing will eventually meet it. It is something we most often try to avoid & disconnect from, yet it is intricately woven into the fabric of our being, for it is a part of us. It shows up in countless forms, layers, intensities and nuances, from the blatantly obvious to the profoundly subtle. It can feel cruel, swift, unkind, unfair, harsh, unforgiving & never in the right time. It can feel natural, slow or prolonged, never ending or unnatural. It can feel like everything, all consuming, all way into nothing; a detached indifference. It can feel like a finality, and in some ways it is...
Yet within very ending, is the beginning of something new
From the moment of their creation, our cells are on a journey towards their eventual demise, yet within this cycle of death, every seven years, we find ourselves at the threshold of renewal, as nearly all of our cells have been replaced. This physical transition mirrors the realms of a sacred rhythm that is within all things; a death that beckons us through a portal towards life that is beyond. Life, in its essence, always transcends death. The nature of this life is ever-evolving, constantly shaping new paths, connections, and relationships
Energy is neither created or destroyed, it simply changes forms. When it comes to death, this isn't always apparent.
Again, even though it is a fundamental part of life's natural cycle- we try to avoid it. Throughout history, there has been a pursuit of eternal youth, a rejection of aging as undesirable, and a relentless quest to alter ourselves in order to avoid the process of it's inevitability, along with a chronic disconnect to the feelings that come along with it.
Still, the very essence of death possesses the transformative power to convert energy into something anew. This doesn't imply that it is devoid of pain or sorrow. Rather, by acknowledging, and allowing the natural expressions of this process, we open ourselves to a deeper understanding and profound connection to the preciousness of ALL life. Death serves as a gateway to the life that follows. In the void of nothingness, it is the key to everything... bridging what has been with what is yet to unfold, much like decay fertilizes the soil for new growth.
How is it we meet death?
In recent years, we experienced a global pause that brought the world to a halt; signaling the end of life as we had known it. This disruption affected us on a massive scale, shaking up the familiar patterns and energies we have long been operating under. The death of the old ways was profound and stirred emotions in each of us, collectively and individually. It required our attention and presence, yet navigating through it could feel overwhelming as it challenged us to our cores. This transition marked the end of a tangible presence in our lives, prompting us to confront change and transformation in deeply personal ways. Within these challenges, the physical and metaphysical deaths presented opportunities for reflection and reevaluation of how we move forward, both individually and collectively.
Through this, these endings are still serving as opportunities for growth and adaptation into new ways of operating, reminding us of the natural process of death within life, and life within death. And while there have been numerous shifts in response to these changes, the existing systems that continue to stay the same, try going back to the "way it was", or operate from outdated norms, practices & belief systems; such as healthcare, governments, and politics, or even personally, are struggling to sustain themselves. When a situation unfolds and its energy no longer aligns with its purpose, the life force or intention behind it fades. These systems, and pieces of ourselves playing out are in decline, yet grasp clinging to the past out of a survival instinct, despite it's call for transmutation through the death.
The invitation of death is often one we try to avert at all costs, yet it's one of reflection. It prompts us to examine the essence and quality of our lives, as well as our individual and shared bonds to existence. It offers us opportunities to be a part of what is being created through it.
Death is a teacher, and through it are multitudes & layers of medicine even when it isn't apparent. Whether physical or metaphysical, deaths are components & reflections of a larger tapestry & interconnectedness with all living beings. Death from deforestation, war & genocide serve as a stark reminders that the disregard for life itself is what must be eradicated, rather than further loss of individuals or species. These deaths, reflect living in ways that fail to honor all forms of life and prompts us to evaluate and reevaluate the enduring patterns and behaviors that no longer serve us, in order to create shifts in moving forward in new ways.
This is undoubtedly a complex undertaking, as numerous intricate threads and elements have become entangled over time. There is no singular solution; instead, it involves the intricate rearrangement of individual components and spaces to initiate new interconnected systems. It isn't just about changing it over night or just "letting go" of what was; it necessitates the integration of past experiences and wounds to initiate the process of healing. The dying of what has been- is unfolding into what is becoming. This is where the journey begins at the individual level, yet its impact resonates throughout the entire fabric of existence.
Sometimes this invitation occurs through physical death.
Experiencing loss, whether through the passing of a loved one, facing our mortality, or the physical end to something can evoke a sense of personal transition within ourselves & sparks a personal journey of reflection and reassessment. Death brings with it a profound sense of loss, a void that seems to echo through our very being. It's a journey through grief that each of us must face. Yet, within this journey lies the potential for profound transformation. Often, the true depth of this transformation can be overlooked amidst the pain, unless we take the time to honor and process our experiences.
The pain and sorrow we feel is connected to the deep love or honoring of the preciousness of life itself.
This emotional process, with its range of feelings, holds valuable insights & wisdom. By honoring this journey, we uncover what truly matters, experiencing a transformative shift akin to a life review. This period of self-reflection has the potential to foster deep inner development as we journey into releasing of outdated habits, viewpoints, belief systems, connections and ways of living that no longer resonate with our truest selves. Death transforms us, sending ripples through countless dimensions where, amidst the destruction, simultaneously new beginnings are quietly taking shape. This process is profoundly personal, carrying within it the seeds of immense possibilities.
Death impacts us whether it touches us directly or indirectly. Even if we have no personal connection to who or what is passing, the intrinsic value of life and our connection to it remains immeasurable. Recognizing and respecting all forms of life on a global level is essential in honoring our own existence. Our relationships with others play a significant role in shaping who we are and how we engage with the world, emphasizing our interconnectedness with all living beings. To honor death, is to honor life.

The invitation through metaphysical death reflects a profound transformation or shedding of old beliefs, patterns, or aspects of oneself that no longer serve our growth and evolution. It symbolizes a symbolic death of fractured understandings of the self, or old survival systems that were needed at some point, but are not sustainable- allowing for a rebirth or renewal of our True Essence to continue unfolding & deepen. This is a process of releasing the old to make space for the new, leading to personal growth, well-being, and a deeper connection to our authentic self and purpose.
During metaphysical death or "the end of something", it can be challenging to consciously discern or recognize what is undergoing a process of change & transformation. Sometimes this manifests as a sense of loss, feeling that a part of ourselves is fading away, or "doesn't want to be here any more." While we may initially attribute & relate this to our own conscious self, it often involves an outdated survival mechanism, deep rooted belief system, or way of life that is seeking to end .
This transition involves reconnecting to the truth of oneself, a journey that can feel daunting, as much of our understanding of "truth" is deeply influenced by external sources and subconscious programming. We often find ourselves repeatedly coming back to the worst or "shittiest" feelings, so naturally they seem to be the "truth" we are returning to. These emotions however are not the core truth, but indicators of the distance from our True Essence and wholeness. They emerge to spotlight areas needing attention and change, serving as tools for transformation. These challenging emotions are meant to be alchemized into wisdom, signaling areas where we've felt disconnected from love and our complete selves, guiding us towards a more unified state.
Within this, our subconscious survival mechanisms instinctively cling to familiar patterns during times of change, echoing ancient survival strategies. Yet, these patterns often no longer serve our current wellbeing. Embracing change necessitates letting go of these outdated systems, not by discarding them, but by transforming them. This transformation involves integrating our past experiences and evolving beyond perceived limitations. The death of old ways allows us to convert past wounds into healing, not by accepting past events, but by reclaiming parts of ourselves lost in the process. Through this transformative journey, we let go of what no longer serves us, making way for the emergence of our true essence.
It is a practice to be present during these challenging moments, as they involve a dismantling and transformation of the self. Our association to our old forms are what is trying to die, and the discomfort is where new life is trying to break through. Just as the caterpillar dissolves and breaks down into nothingness, the wisdom within rearranges what has been- into the structure of it's full Essence.
Just as the natural decay in nature provides nutrients for the soil and new life to flourish, the death of what once was is not about abandonment, but rather an integration into nourishing all aspects of existence. Within death, lies an innate wisdom- the keys to life. The very void of nothingness that is tapped into everything. Within destruction, creation is simultaneously occurring. It is within this very journey that the seeds of profound transformation are sown. Yes, there will still be death, but death with the power to transform life as we know it.
The invitation of death, into the sacred dance of life.
